Paragon Kilns are ideal for firing Art Clay and PMC metal clays, making jewellery, adding gold highlights, annealing glass beads, fusing dichroic glass, firing ceramics, pottery, stoneware, raku, baking polymer clays, stained glass, lampwork, melting silver, casting glass, sagging, slumping, china painting, porcelain dolls, enamelling, and many more applications.

We offer a number of different models of Kilns.

The Paragon SC-2

The Paragon SC-2 is ideal for Art Clay, PMC, Accent Gold, Metal Clay Veneer, Fimo Polymer Clay, china painting, dichroics, enamelling, jewellery, lost-wax casting, low-fire ceramics, and small-scale glass fusing, sagging, and slumping. It's a 1095°C, four-sided, square, front-opening kiln, with an easy-to-use, ramp-hold, Sentry Xpress 3-key digital programmer.

This Kiln can use a regular mains socket, and is small enough to use in your home, school, craft workshop, jewellery studio, or take to a course venue, as it only weighs about 16kg.
The outer steel case measures 336mm x 311mm x 400mm, and is slotted for air circulation so it keeps cool. The door opens 180°, so you won't burn your hand taking your work out. There is also a top vent for lost-wax casting and other processes that release fumes.
The ceramic-fibre firing chamber, enclosed in an inner steel case, measures 199mm x 204mm x 145mm internally, and heats from both sides and the back, with the fast-firing elements safely embedded in the fibre.
Uniquely, the SC-2 kiln has a sheathed thermocouple which prevents the possible corrosion and eventual failure of the bi-metallic tip usually caused by pollutants produced whilst heating some types of glass.
The electronic display prompts for heating rate, target temperature, and hold time, making it easy to set up and re-use accurate drying, heating, holding, and cooling sequences.
The recommended furniture kit for the SC2, which is included in the price consists of one 139mm x 139mm x 6mm ceramic-fibre shelf suitable for Art Clay and PMC, but not china paint, dichroic glasses, enamels, or fused glass.
If you want to do china painting, enamelling, or glass work, you'll need a thicker shelf and four shelf posts. These come as an extra kit: one 178mm x 178mm x 15mm cordierite shelf and four 25mm x 25mm x 12mm posts. Kiln shelf paper is simpler and more convenient to use than glass separator for stopping enamels and glass sticking to the shelf.
Cordierite is a magnesium aluminium silicate that resists thermal distortion and fracture. A thick shelf on post, heats and cools evenly which is particularly important for glass work.
Depending on the sizes of your pieces and the number of pieces you want to fire, three shelves can be stacked to make better use of your time so you may want more than one furniture kit.
The Paragon SC2 is a good first-kiln and is popular with metal clay artists, particularly those also making enamel and glass jewellery, and is ideal for a studio running jewellery courses. It's compact and easy to move, uses a regular mains socket, stays cool on the outside, is fully programmable, heats and cools quickly, and it's inexpensive to run.
Its only minor limitation is that, although 1095°C is hot enough for low-fire ceramics, it's not hot enough for normal ceramics, porcelain, pottery, and stoneware which need a 1260°C or 1290°C kiln.

The Paragon SC-2B

Cordierite is a magnesium aluminium silicate that resists thermal distortion and fracture. A thick shelf, on posts, heats and cools evenly which is particularly important for glass work.
Depending on the sizes of your pieces and the number of pieces you want to fire, five shelves can be stacked to make better use of your time, so you may want more than one furniture kit.

The Paragon SC3 is a good first-kiln, popular with metal clay artists, particularly those also making enamel and glass jewellery, and ideal for a studio running jewellery courses. It's compact and easy to move, it uses a regular mains socket, stays cool on the outside, is fully programmable, heats and cools quickly, and it's inexpensive to run.
The firing chamber is 1.34 times higher inside than that of the SC2, so will accommodate taller pieces of work or two extra shelves, making five in all.
Although 1095°C is hot enough for low-fire ceramics, it's not hot enough for normal ceramics, porcelain, pottery, and stoneware, they need a 1260°C or 1290°C kiln.

The Paragon BlueBird

The Paragon BlueBird is ideal for annealing glass beads. It's a 650°C, four-sided, rectangular, front-opening kiln, with an easy-to-use, ramp-hold, Sentry Xpress 3-key digital programmer.

The Blue Bird can use a regular mains socket, and is small enough to use in your home, school, craft workshop, or jewellery studio, as it only weighs about 22kg.
The outer steel case measures 966mm x 458mm x 356mm, and is slotted for air circulation so it keeps cool. There are two separate outward-opening letter-box style doors, each 254mm x 70mm, giving a total door width of 508mm.
The whole ceramic-fibre firing chamber measures 508mm x 127mm x 127mm internally, and heats from the top, with the fast-firing elements safely embedded in the fibre.
The electronic display prompts for heating rate, target temperature, and hold time, making it easy to set up and re-use accurate drying, heating, holding, and cooling sequences.
The Blue Bird was designed for batch-annealing glass beads threaded onto bead rods, or mandrels. Although it has a wide bead-door, making it time and energy efficient, 650°C is not hot enough for most other materials and processes, so there's no recommended furniture kit.
The Blue Bird elements are embedded in ceramic fibre, an important safety feature if you like to add and remove bead rods whilst the kiln is on.

The Paragon BlueBird XL

The Paragon BlueBird XL is a dream kiln for the glass bead enthusiast. It safely anneals the glass to prevent breakage during cooling.

It's a 1290°C cone 10, four-sided, square, top-opening kiln, with an easy-to-use digital pyrometer.

It can use a regular mains socket, and to comply with safety regulations, it's fitted with an additional switch that cuts off the power when the lid is opened. It's small enough to use in your home, school, jewellery workshop, or ceramics studio, as it only weighs about 20kg.
The outer steel case measures 470mm x 381mm x 305mm, including the controller housing, the steel base, and other hardware.
The firebrick firing chamber measures 203mm x 203mm x 114mm internally, and heats from all sides, with the fast-firing elements lying in grooves in the 64mm thick bricks.
The Fire Fly doesn't have a programmer, however, the controller allows you to adjust the heating and cooling rate. The digital pyrometer, included in the price, gives you accurate temperature feedback so that you can learn more about materials and processes. The pyrometer can be swapped quickly with the thermocouple.

The recommended furniture kit for the Fire Fly, included in the price, consists of one 178mm x 178mm x 15mm cordierite shelf, four 25mm x 25mm x 12mm posts, and a bag of glass separator. Kiln shelf paper is simpler and more convenient to use than glass separator for stopping enamels and glass sticking to the shelf.
Cordierite is a magnesium aluminium silicate that resists thermal distortion and fracture. A thick shelf, on posts, heats and cools evenly: partuicularly important for glass work.
Depending on the sizes of your pieces and the number of pieces you want to fire, three shelves can be stacked to make better use of your time, so you may want more than one furniture kit. An extra kit consists of one 178mm x 178mm x 15mm cordierite shelf and four 25mm x 25mm x 25mm posts.

The FireFly is a versatile kiln for small-scale everything in your craft workshop or ceramics studio, it's compact and easy to move, it uses a regular mains socket, it heats and cools quickly, and it's inexpensive to run. It's popular with glass artists, particularly those also making enamel, ceramic, and silver jewellery.
1290°C kilns are generally used for ceramics, porcelain, pottery, and stoneware.
